(august 4) the days are really intense and i’m getting really tired after class, so there’s not enough energy to post at the end of the day… but i’m trying! these are the pictures from our final typography lesson, a really cool workshop in letterpress given my the great helen. there’s a picture of her with alistair, our tutor, in the slideshow.

(august 4) our assignment for typography class was to create an alphabet that would represent london to us. i chose the parks aspect of the city because it’s such a great counterpoint to all the grey, and since the brief was to try and use our hands much more than the computer, i worked with real leaves. the end result was a bit chunky, bit it was fun to experiment. all the foliage images was my photographic research!

(august 11) our assignment for the illustration discipline was to work on 3 images that should represent leather lane market (a vibrant, bustling phenomenon happening every weekday in this short, narrow street that is filled with all kinds of fashionable people and suits). i was really inspired by the unintentional graphic quality of the place.

(august 13) my final work for the illustration brief. one of the things that struck me as unique about the market was all the different types of furniture e laid on the sidewalks, inviting customers to sit and enjoy the food of the many restaurants, from where the smells of food waft onto the street, making quite an impression - so i ran with that angle. i wish i’d been able to do the illustrations by hand, but i had time constraints, so i worked them as vectors. one of the things i’ve realized within the graphics summer school is that i cannot escape my architectural background!

(august 20) the next to last day in london (technically our last day, since saturday was spent packing and fixing everything for the trip to paris) was also my last chance to visit the design museum and the last day of class from the second short course i did at saint martins (experience design). it was all kind of very hurried, but all fantastic. memorable times for sure.
